ÖGAHM logo Austrian Society for Alpine Medicine

The International Courses in Alpine Medicine comprise three course formats to be completed and conclude with the International Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DIMM).

The International Courses in Alpine Medicine comprise the three formats Winter Course, Spring Course and Summer Course.

These three courses are accredited in accordance with the requirements of the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR), the International Society for Mountain Medicine (ISMM) and the Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme (UIAA). The current requirements can be viewed here in the original. Participation in all three courses, including completion of the final examination, is mandatory in order to obtain the International Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DIMM).

These courses are also DFP-accredited and can be credited on a pro-rata basis (up to one week) towards the Diploma in Alpine and High Altitude Medicine of the Austrian Medical Chamber.

DIMM examination dates

The Austrian-German alpine physicians training programme, recognised worldwide by the UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme), IKAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue) and ISMM (International Society for Mountain Medicine), can be completed once a year with the following qualifications: Diploma in Mountain Medicine and Diploma in Expedition and Wilderness Medicine.
