Sport climbing course in the climbing paradise of the Tyrolean Oberland with medical focuses on internal alpine medicine, child and youth alpinism, and orthopedics

The International Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DIMM) courses are organized in cooperation with the Alpinärzteschmiede. Registration for the course takes place via the Alpinärzteschmiede website.

Price: €1,840 excluding accommodation, lift, and luggage transport

Alpine Medicine Seminars

Alpine and high-altitude medicine overview lectures on the following topics:

  • Alpinistic exercise physiology and sports medicine (2 hours)
  • Alpinistic fitness criteria from an internal medicine perspective (3 hours)
  • Mountaineering with pre-existing internal conditions – the patient on the mountain (3 hours)
  • Internal medicine emergencies in the mountains (1 hour)
  • Fatigue, exhaustion, and physiological survival strategies in the mountains (1 hour)
  • Alpine travel medicine (1 hour)
  • Physiology and medicine of intermediate, high, and extreme altitudes (7 hours)
  • Modern high-altitude mountaineering (2 hours)

Alpine medicine practical exercises

  • First aid at the scene of the accident
  • Improvised mountain rescue techniques and transport in difficult terrain

Alpinistic Training

Imparting knowledge and skills in light to medium-difficulty rock climbing by learning or improving alpinistic technique and personal ability; for particularly interested or capable participants, the goal is to safely master a climb of medium length (approx. 300 vertical meters) up to difficulty grade IV in an independent rope team.
