Alpine Medicine Seminars
Alpine and high-altitude medicine overview lectures on the following topics:
- Alpinistic exercise physiology and sports medicine (2 hours)
- Alpinistic fitness criteria from an internal medicine perspective (3 hours)
- Mountaineering with pre-existing internal conditions – the patient on the mountain (3 hours)
- Internal medicine emergencies in the mountains (1 hour)
- Fatigue, exhaustion, and physiological survival strategies in the mountains (1 hour)
- Alpine travel medicine (1 hour)
- Physiology and medicine of intermediate, high, and extreme altitudes (7 hours)
- Modern high-altitude mountaineering (2 hours)
Alpine medicine practical exercises
- First aid at the scene of the accident
- Improvised mountain rescue techniques and transport in difficult terrain
Alpinistic Training
Imparting knowledge and skills in light to medium-difficulty rock climbing by learning or improving alpinistic technique and personal ability; for particularly interested or capable participants, the goal is to safely master a climb of medium length (approx. 300 vertical meters) up to difficulty grade IV in an independent rope team.
