The International Courses for Alpine Medicine (DIMM) are organized in cooperation with Alpinärzteschmiede. Registration for the course takes place via the Alpinärzteschmiede website.

Alpine Medical Seminars

Alpine and high-altitude medical overview lectures on the following topics:

  • Alpine Performance Physiology and Sports Medicine (2 hours)
  • Alpine Suitability Criteria from an Internal Medicine Perspective (3 hours)
  • Mountaineering with Pre-existing Internal Medical Conditions – The Ill Person in the Mountains (3 hours)
  • Internal Medical Emergencies in the Mountains (1 hour)
  • Fatigue, Exhaustion, Physiological Survival Strategies in the Mountains (1 hour)
  • Alpine Travel Medicine (1 hour)
  • Physiology and Medicine of Moderate, High, and Extreme Altitudes (7 hours)
  • Modern High-Altitude Mountaineering (2 hours)

Alpine Medical Practical Exercises

  • First Aid at the Accident Site
  • Improvised Mountain Rescue Techniques and Evacuation in Difficult Terrain

Alpine Training

Imparting knowledge and skills in easy to moderately difficult rock climbing by learning or improving alpine technique and personal ability, with the aim for particularly interested or capable participants to safely complete a climb of medium length (approx. 300 vertical meters) up to difficulty level IV in an independent rope team.
