Prof. Katharina Hüfner, Medical University of Innsbruck, and colleagues have published an exciting study on mental health after a mountain accident.
A dream day in the mountains can quickly end in trauma—an accident, even if it turns out well, can sometimes affect those involved for a long time. Twenty percent of the 307 patients surveyed suffered from individual symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder six months after a mountain accident. This was recorded for the first time by an interdisciplinary team at the Medical University of Innsbruck led by Katharina Hüfner, with support from the Bolzano research centre Eurac Research.
