(research associate with Prof. Schobersberger at the Institute for Sports and Alpine Medicine & Health Tourism (ISAG) at UMIT Tirol – Private University for Health Sciences and Health Technology, Hall in Tirol)
Dear ÖGAHM members,
My name is Anika Köck, I am 25 years old and am in my second semester of the Master’s programme in Sports Science at the University of Innsbruck. My strong passion for sport was only sparked in the second year of upper secondary school, when I spent a year at a high school in Michigan. During my first dual education programme (business studies and apprenticeship) at Siemens AG, I had the opportunity to spend an exciting time in Austria and abroad. The semester abroad in Bolivia in particular sparked my interest in high-altitude medicine. After graduating, I switched to sports science, completed my bachelor’s degree within four semesters at TU Munich, and during this time gained a great deal of practical experience in sports therapy, at the Chair of Sports Medicine, and in a normobaric altitude chamber.
Since October 2020, I have been working full-time in Innsbruck in project management for oncology studies at the Women’s Clinic. In terms of sport, I most enjoy being in the mountains—running, cycling, or doing winter sports.
I am very pleased to be able, through ÖGAHM, to work as a research associate with Prof. Schobersberger at the Institute for Sports and Alpine Medicine & Health Tourism (ISAG) at UMIT Tirol – Private University for Health Sciences and Health Technology, Hall in Tirol, and to contribute scientifically in the field of high-altitude medicine. As a project coordinator, my work focuses primarily on the topic of “cold, hypoxia and performance”.
