analyse:berg Summer 2023

analyse:berg 2023/24

analyse:berg is published twice a year by the Austrian Board for Alpine Safety (ÖKAS). In the summer and winter issues, the relevant alpine emergency events are analyzed and discussed. For physicians interested in alpine medicine, analyse:berg is an excellent professional supplement.

Fresh off the press and ready for dispatch is the new analyse:berg, Summer 2023. Packed with facts and figures from the ÖKAS emergency database, evaluated for the period from November 2021 to October 2022, with a focus on summer disciplines such as hiking, climbing, via ferrata, mountain biking, high-altitude tours, and aviation accidents.

Acute illnesses, including cardiovascular disorders in the mountains, are examined in more detail in this issue. This includes insightful interviews and research findings, as well as emergency statistics from Austria.

Additionally, accidents are reported, and insights are shared: exciting interviews, such as the one with Markus Emprechtinger and Paul Mair about an otherwise unspectacular mountain bike accident with unexpected consequences, reports on special operations by the alpine police (rope fall at Gindlkante, abseiling accident at Peilstein), and accident analyses & reports from those involved….

The classification of hiking trails, aging and wear of protective equipment, and exertional heat stroke have also found their place in this analyse:berg summer issue.
